The by - product of Waste Incineration is toxic. The waste that is needed to fuel these plants has to be calorific, which means stuff that we would normally recycle, for example plastics. Burning plastic and other such waste leaves a residue that needs to be disposed of - it is this vile stuff that is carcinogenic. Some of it is expelled via the flue stacks and contaminates the air and surrounding environment (up to 16 mile radius) the rest is buried.
